Hilltopper Steps Prior to Beginning of the Semester

Campus

The following email was sent to all students on Friday, August 12, 2022:

Western Kentucky University is ready to start this new year!

The Hilltop will be filled with incoming and returning students this next week prior to our August 22nd first day of classes! As you prepare your return to campus this next week, here are a few more reminders for all students:

  1. Textbooks. Through our new Big Red Backpack program, you must verify your textbook order and select your delivery method early to have your books ready for you by the first day of classes. To verify your order, visit https://wku.bncollege.com/ and select “Reserve Now”. Big Red Backpack fees are automatically applied to your student account.

You have the choice to opt out of the program if you want to purchase your textbooks on your own. To learn more about the Big Red Backpack program, or to opt-out of the program, visit www.wku.edu/bigredbackpack. For questions, contact the WKU Store at SM8358@bncollege.com. Please note: Dual Credit and Chapter 31 veteran students are automatically opted out of the Big Red Backpack program.
  1. Parking Permits. Parking permit sales are first-come, first-served. If you haven’t already purchased your permit, visit www.wku.edu/transportation and select “Buy Your 2022-23 Permit” on the left of the screen. Have your NetID and vehicle information handy before you begin. You can charge permits to your student account.

If you only visit campus occasionally, PTS has expanded pay-as-you-go alternatives. For questions, contact the Parking & Transportation Services department at 270-745-2361 or transportation@wku.edu.

Additionally, a point of clarification from an earlier email regarding the Satellite Services temporarily located in DSU these next two weeks. Originally, you were provided a contact number for the Cashier’s Office with billing questions. A better contact is Billings and Receivables at 270-745-6381 should you have questions concerning your student account.

If you have already taken care of textbook reservations and/or parking permits – you’re all set for the beginning of the semester. If you have not yet, now is the best time to do this before you start on the 22nd.

Have a great year Hilltoppers!

Ethan Logan, Ph.D.
Vice President of Enrollment & Student Experience
