Hello Hilltopper,
The Department of Student Financial Assistance at Western Kentucky University would like to provide you an update on the awarding timeline for the 2024/2025 academic year. On January 30th, 2024, the Department of Education announced they will not be sending completed FAFSA information to schools until sometime in the middle of March. This means that WKU will not have any access to completed 2024/2025 FAFSA information to make any sort of aid determinations for the upcoming year at this time.
Our goal is that once we can run the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) federal aid eligibility reports at the end of the spring semester, we can then start awarding our current and returning students for the 2024-2025 semester in late May.
If you have not yet completed your 2024/2025 FAFSA application, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Kentucky residents who are Pell-eligible may also be eligible for the Kentucky College Assistance Program Grant. It is expected that these grant funds will be exhausted earlier, so to have the best possible chances of receiving these grant funds, we encourage all Kentucky residents to complete their 2024/2025 FAFSA by April 1st.
The staff in the Department of Student Financial Assistance are here to assist you with any questions you may have about this process. You can contact us via phone at 270-745-2755, email at fa.help@wku.edu, or visit us in Potter Hall, Third Floor Monday-Friday 8:00a-4:30p.
